Leadership Changes at Landers Center
Significant leadership changes have occurred at the Landers Center in Southaven, resulting in Todd Mastry's termination as executive director by the DeSoto County Convention and Visitors Bureau Board. Following a special board meeting, general manager Joel Crews has stepped in as interim executive director. Board chair Amy Lovorn confirmed the decision but did not disclose specific reasons for Mastry's dismissal, citing it as a personnel issue. The board plans to conduct a nationwide search for a new executive director. Currently, the Landers Center is undergoing extensive renovation and expansion, which will include a new convention center linked to a seven-story hotel, aimed at attracting major conventions and their economic benefits. Mastry had been with the center since 2008, becoming executive director in 2011, and was instrumental in hosting events like the Mid-South Fair and the Memphis Hustle basketball team. His leadership marked a pivotal era for the center, which was originally established in 2000.
